Our Focus Students

We are a team of 8 students in the last year of our bachelor's degree. Together we are responsible for the work and organisation of the project. Started in september 2022, we will finalise our work until 30 may 2023, after which we will leave the project. Since we are also interested in the project and its subject area personally, a few of us will write a bachelor's thesis in this subject area beyond the project goal. .

Marcus Bammel

Marcus is a mechanical engineering student. He is part of the Phantom Team where he works in the lab and does literary research. In addition, he is also the contact person for our sponsors. He speaks fluent German, English and French and can therefore approach a wide range of companies. If you or your company are interested in engaging with our project, please feel free to contact him for more information about how you can support us.

Marc Bischof

Marc is a mechanical engineering student. He is part of the Phantom Team and works on the lab experiments and production of our phantoms. Besides this practical work, he is the direct contact person for our freelancers and responsible for integrating new interested students into our team. If you are motivated and want to join our project, please feel free to contact him at any time.

Jérôme Bonvin

Jérôme is an electrical engineering student. He works in the Testing Team and is therefore jointly responsible for processing and evaluating the data obtained during our tests. He thus works hand in hand with professor Razansky's lab and know the intricacies of our Optoacoustic Laser setup by heart. In addition to his work in the laser lab, he is responsible for the operation and maintenance of our website, which he created.

Tsering Chockchampa

Tsering Chokchampa is a mechanical engineering student. He is part of the Synthesis Team and works on the heart of our project: the nanoparticles. In addition, he is responsible for safety in our project. Together with Nicola, he ensures the health and safety of the team when working with dangerous chemicals and equipment in our labs.

Nicola Irmiger

Nicola Irmiger is a mechanical engineering student. He works in the Synthesis Team and thus on the development of our nanoparticles. In collaboration with Prof Herrmann's lab, he is working on ever-improving the generations of our contrast agents. Together with Tsering, he is responsible for safety in our project and the organisation of the project Rollout.

Isabel Klessascheck

Isabel Klessascheck is a mechanical engineering student. She was the one who came up with the idea for this project and initiated it. Now she is working on the project in the Phantom Team and is therefore responsible for developing a realistic test environment using different ploymers. In addition, Isabel manages our finances and handles the accounting for the project keeping the team’s expenses under control.

Sebastian Kravecz

Sebastian Kravecz is a mechanical engineering student. As the third member of our Synthesis Team, he also works on our self-produced and optimised nanoparticles. In addition, Sebastian runs our social media accounts and regularly provides an insight into our work throughout our different development stages.

Michael Schmotzer

Michael Schmotzer is a mechanical engineering student and is part of the Testing Team. Together with Jérôme he processes the data obtained from the optoacoustic imaging setup and computes it to create 3D images which we can then further analyse. He also creates our testing procedures to ensure continuity between our tests to provide us with conclusive results.

Our Freelancers

Freelancers are students from the scientific fields involved who contribute to the achievement of the project through voluntary contributions. By participating in the project, they gain an insight into practical work, which serves as a supplement to otherwise theoretical studies. The project gains more working and thinking power through their participation. In this way, we can also benefit from the previous knowledge of the freelancers from other disciplines. All in all, together we form an energetic synergy.

Anna Bodnar

Anna is a first year mechanical engineering student and is already very interested in our field of work. Anna supports our synthesis team in the development and production of the nanoparticles. Through her participation in the German "Jugend forscht" contest, she already brings along laboratory experience and important basic knowledge.

Alex Muther

Alex is a mechanical engineering student in his masters. Thanks to his bachelor thesis, he became en expert in 3d printing and material selection. He is now helping the phantom team to produce a realistic represantation of cancerours tissue.
